Synopsis:
The play is set in Ancient China with 12 animals and Lucky Panda trying to decide which one of them the New Year should be named after. The Emperor Shen commands them to resolve the dispute in a competition to swim across the mighty Pearl River. The kind-hearted Lucky Panda fails to arrive on time for the competition because he is helping a farmer desperate to harvest his rice crop. Lucky Panda may have failed to be in time to have a year named after him, but the Emperor gives him a greater gift: immortality. However, the Lucky Panda will only awaken to bring good fortune and happiness to deserving people for one day every year: the Chinese New Year.
